WHAT IS UMF™?

Quality and Authenticity
UMF™ stands for Unique Manuka Factor and was established by the UMF Honey Association of New Zealand (www.umf.org.nz), of which WildCape is a member (Licence # 1075).
The UMF™ grading system appraises natural markers found in Manuka Honey, and assures purity and quality. Unlike other grading systems which measure just one or two markers, only the UMF™ testing process measures all three unique signature compounds, Leptosperin, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and Methylglyoxal (MGO) present in high quality, authentic Manuka honey.

Independent Testing
Every batch of WildCape Manuka Honey is independently tested by Analytica Laboratories (www.analytica.co.nz) in adherence with the UMF™ testing process. All laboratory test results are then verified by the UMF™ Honey Association and certified with a UMF™ rating indicating the level of the unique Manuka properties within the honey. When you see the UMF™ mark on our label, you know you can trust the quality and authenticity of our Manuka honey.

UMF™ and MGO
Methylglyoxal (MGO) is one of the three unique signature compounds measured in the UMF™ testing process. Some honey brands use a measurement of MGO alone as the basis of their honey grading system.
